Family Entertainment: Ohana Day

Pro Bowl week is a great time for fans to have the chance to meet the stars of the NFL. Perhaps the best opportunity for fans to interact with players is during the Pro Bowl Ohana Day, presented locally by G P Roadway Solutions. Ohana Day is held the day before the Pro Bowl and offers fans a chance to watch the players practice and get autographs. Select fans also got the opportunity to join the players on the field. Youths from the NFL Play 60 program joined the Pro Bowl Cheerleaders and mascots on the field to run some drills and sprints while another lucky fan got to catch passes from Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson!

G P Roadway Solutions is proud to have sponsored the Pro Bowl Ohana Day, and we were lucky enough to share the experience with 50 students from Farrington High School. Bob Peterson, Oahu Branch Manager, gave 50 VIP wristbands to students at Farrington High School through his rotary club, Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu. The students got to sit in a special section right above the tunnels where NFL players would enter and exit the field. Most of the students crammed into the stairway above the AFC and NFC tunnels, hopping to get their jerseys and memorabilia signed by their favorite players and team mascots.

Students and fans cram AFC tunnel hoping to get autographs from their favorite players.

A couple players really stood out to me during the unofficial autograph session. The first was Peyton Manning. Having missed the entire 2011-2012 season, it was great to see him interacting with fans and he spent a great deal of time near the tunnel, signing as many items as he could, making sure he reached every fan.

Texans tight end Owen Daniels tosses back a signed football to a lucky family.

The second player that really stood out was Texans tight end Owen Daniels. Owen Daniels spent a good amount of time in the south endzone interacting with the kids in the stands; signing autographs. This is what the Pro Bowl experience is about: fans and players interacting and families creating special memories that they’ll never forget. Take our very own Gary Hiram, manager of Peterson Sign Company, which is a division of G P Roadway Solutions. He and his daughter were recognized at midfield as a Pro Bowl Sponsor on behalf of G  P Roadway Solutions.

Hopefully, the quality of the 2013 Pro Bowl was high enough for the league to continue to hold the event in Hawaii. We at G P Roadway Solutions really value the opportunity to sponsor such great events like Ohana Day, and we hope to do so for years to come!
