PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION
The Filtrexx ® Filtration system is a temporary or permanent water or storm water fltration system used to remove sediment and soluble pollutants from water or storm water. The land based system uses organic FilterMedia tm and vegetation to remove pollutants from water/storm water prior to discharge into collection ponds, constructed wetlands, infltration basins, felds, or receiving waters. This system combines the benefts of organic matter, humus, vegetation, and proprietary focculants to clean point and non-point water sources. Filtrexx ® focculants can be used with easy to maintain Filtrexx ® baffes to create a custom design to target specifc pollutants in water/storm water.
APPLICATION
The Filtrexx ® Filtration system can be used for temporary applications during land disturbing/ construction activities or for permanent applications where vegetation can be established to create a permanent organic vegetative flter that is designed into the landscape. Typical applications include: Pretreatment for temporary sediment detention ponds; Post-treatment for temporary sediment detention pond discharge or emergency storm overfow; Pretreatment for permanent storm water collection ponds; Sediment and soluble pollutant control of storm runoff; Sediment and soluble pollution fltration from contaminated effuent.
INSTALLATION
1. Filtrexx ® Filtration system shall meet Filtrexx ® Filtration system Specifcations and use Filtrexx ® GrowingMedia tm and Filtrexx ®
FilterMedia tm .
2. Contractor is required tobe aFiltrexx ® Certifed tm Installer as determined by Filtrexx ® International, LLC (440-926-2607; www.fltrexx.com). Certifcation shall be considered current if appropriate identifcation is shown during time of bid or at time of application (list found at www.fltrexx.com). Look for Filtrexx ® Certifed tm Installer Seal.
3. Filtration system will be placed at locations indicated on plans as directed by the Engineer and will be fabricated on-site.
4. Filtration system shall be placed perpendicular to water fow in amanner that allowswater or storm water to fow, percolate, and/or gravitate through the system.
5. Filtration system must be installed and stabilized before water fow is allowed to enter the fltration system.
6. Land surface shall be cleared of debris, including rocks, roots, large clods, and sticks; and lightly compacted and graded prior to Filtration system installation.
7. Filtration system shall be placed on slopes between 1 and 5%.
8. On-site fabrication of Filtration system will ensure a continuous length FilterSoxx tm system. Upon completing one section of FilterSoxx tm flling (approximately 100-200 ft [30-60m]), the next section shall be ‘sleeved’ over the completed section by a minimum of 1 ft (300mm). A stake shall be placed in overlap section, securing the two sections.
9. An minimum 18 in (450mm) FilterSoxx tm will be used to construct the perimeter enclosure of
